Pacific Pilotage Sub-Committee

Supporting Safe, Professional Superyacht Operations in Canadian Pacific Waters

The Pacific Pilotage Sub-Committee is the first initiative being developed under the Superyacht Canada Foundation Captains Committee.

This sub-committee is intended to support communication, awareness, and access to practical information related to pilotage requirements for superyachts operating in Canadian Pacific waters. The goal is to help captains, yacht owners, agents, and industry partners better understand the pilotage environment and connect with qualified marine professionals when planning voyages to British Columbia and Canada’s Pacific Coast.

The original committee concept identifies pilotage as an important area of focus because captains play a key role in supporting compliance with Canadian marine regulations, including circumstances where larger yachts may require a qualified pilot when operating in Canadian waters.

This page will also serve as a location where information about participating member captains can be made available to Superyacht Canada members, yacht owners, visiting vessels, agents, and other industry stakeholders.

Over time, this may include captain profiles, areas of experience, Pacific Coast cruising knowledge, pilotage-related qualifications, availability, and contact information, where appropriate and with consent.

For Captains

Professional captains with relevant experience in Canadian Pacific waters are encouraged to connect with Superyacht Canada to learn more about participation in the Captains Committee and the Pacific Pilotage Sub-Committee.

Participation may provide opportunities to share expertise, support visiting vessels, contribute to industry knowledge, and help shape a more connected and professional superyacht sector in Canada.
