Captain Chris Bunn, Master 500, Tugboat 3,000 Near Coastal (NC)

For over 33 years Chris was Master on a Contract Patrol Vessel for Fisheries and Oceans Canada. His patrol area included the mainland inlets of spectacular British Columbia and the river systems within those inlets. He was the on grounds liaison with all user groups operating in the region, first nation groups, commercial fishers, loggers, camp operators and tourism operators. As a result, he has a deep intimate connection to and knowledge of the British Columbia coast. He possesses an extensive network of contacts coastwide.

Chris sits on the Homalco First Nation Board of Directors and is the Chair of the Discovery Harbor Authority in Campbell River, BC.

Chris has provided construction oversite, sea trials and crew training on high-speed catamarans for the tourism sector.

Chris has blue water experience in the China Sea, in addition, Chris has spent many off seasons in marine construction, building docks and marinas and commercial towing coast wide from Ketchikan Alaska through BC waters to Seattle Washinton.

In recent years Chris has provided Pilot Waivered Services to the Super Yacht and commercial vessel sector. This has been a terrific opportunity to showcase his vast local knowledge of the British Columbia Coast and communities.

Chris qualifies for the Pacific Pilotage Authority Waiver in Zone 2, (north and south inside waters of Vancouver Island), Zone 3 (the west coast of Vancouver Island), Zone 4, (central coast waters from Pine Island to Dixon Entrance) and Zone 5 (the Queen Charlotte Islands, Haida Gwai).
